QOOL-Vic

Cancer Alliance Queensland supported the Victorian Department of Health (Cancer Support, Treatment and Research Unit) to implement QOOL-Vic in Victorian cancer centres. QOOL provides cancer teams with tools that support routine and standard data capture, information sharing with a patient centric focus and analysis of cancer data for quality and safety, and research to promote excellence in cancer care.  The implementation of QOOL-Vic means our standardised ‘national platform’ is now in use across Qld and Victoria.

Benchmarking

Treating people with cancer in Queensland and Victoria: national benchmarking starts here

CAQ and the Victorian DoH have collaborated to create the ‘Treating people with cancer in Queensland and Victoria: national benchmarking starts here’ as a national demonstration report to contribute to the Australian Cancer Plan. The report builds on existing publications from both Queensland and Victoria moving beyond population reporting of incidence, mortality, and survival to the comparison of state-wide cancer treatment, system performance and outcome data. The report demonstrates the mutual benefit of identifying areas of improvement in Queensland and Victoria. Recognising unwarranted variations in cancer care between states highlights opportunities for improving patient care and provides real-world evidence and comparisons of cancer specific indicators based on clinical guidelines.
